๐ŸŒˆ Colors for Kids

Most children learn color names between ages two and four. Matching comes first (find another red one), then pointing (show me red), then naming (what color is this?). Lots of repetition in real life is the secret.

Tips for parents and teachers

  • Talk in colors: 'your blue cup', 'the green bus'.
  • Sort toys, socks or snacks into color groups.
  • Go on a color hunt on a walk.
  • Mix paints to discover new colors.
  • Play 'I spy something yellow'.
